ABOUT US

Stoke-On-Trent Angling Society is open for membership! The Society controls fishing on some of the regions finest waters; prestigious carp venues like the legendary Redesmere and Capesthorne Hall Estate, two cracking stretches of the River Dove, and numerous waters to suit the general coarse and pleasure angler.

Of the Society’s specimen carp waters; Redesmere produces many known 30lb-plus carp and currently contains around thirteen different 30lb+ fish. Capesthorne Main Lake and the Society’s first purchased water (Astbury Mere) have also produced carp to over 30lb during and Capesthorne Top Pool produced its first 30lb carp during 2005. Bolesworth Castle, one of the Society’s most consistent waters, has produced carp to around 27lb. Rudyard and Knypersley have also both produced good 20lb-plus carp.

Specimen coarse fishing could not be better with double figure bream a regular occurrence on Redesmere with fish to 14lb, whilst quality tench to around 9lb have been taken from the Capesthorne Estate during the year. Double figure barbel and some cracking chub are also available on the Society’s two stretches of the Dove.

The general pleasure angler will also find some great sport on Society’s waters; Ellenhall (with ten pools to go at!), Bolesworth castle and Capesthorne Stock Pond all offer consistent catches of silver fish and carp and can prove great rod-bending waters for those new into the sport.

Application to the Society could not be easier - Just print off, fill out and send in the application form on the membership Page!
