CAPESTHORNE MAIN LAKE

Description

Capesthorne Hall Main Lake is an artificially created pool of approximately 8 acres located in the grounds of this fine stately home. The water has been fished by countless high profile anglers over the years and has featured in many books and publications. The famous bridge divides the pool into two halves, the Garden Pool and the Park Pool. The lake is narrow and shallow with the dam wall section providing the deepest area of around 2 metres.

With easy access, the Garden Pool proves extremely popular with carp anglers, though many often overlook the shallows at the far end of the Park Pool, where you can often find large groups of carp mooching around the margins. The water is tree lined on both sides with excellent margin features on all pegs and lily pads during summer months.

Species

Although known as a carp fishery, Capesthorne Main Pool is a mixed fishery containing bream, crucians, gudgeon, perch, pike, roach, rudd and tench. Of the coarse species, bream tend to be the most predominant and are obliging throughout the year. roach and rudd catches have improved largely due to the stocking policy.
