FANSHAWE POOL

Description
Fanshawe was originally excavated for trout fishing pool, though in recent years has been developed as a mixed fishery. The lake is approximately 1.5 acres with a uniform depth of 1.2 metres with a small island which shelves off gradually providing an interesting feature to fish to.

The water is naturally spring fed, which accounts for its clarity, and you will find numerous features from various swims offering a relaxed environment.

Fanshawe is a one-rod only water.

Species
In recent years a large consignement of small tench between 6-8” and carp to 1lb have been introduced to grow on. The water contains; carp, tench, roach, rudd, bream, crucian carp, and perch.
The water tends to be used as a nursery for the society. There are a number of sizeable Trout still resident and members are requested to return these should they be caught.

Approx 5 miles south of Wilmslow on the A34 and south of Capesthorne Hall, turn into Fanshawe Lane, car parking as map.
